Immerse classes are a way for the body of Christ at New Life to be further equipped for their works of ministry (Ephesians 4:12). Our conviction with youth group ministry is to promote more discipleship in the home and organically throughout the whole body of Christ. From the Word, we see supporting, equipping, honoring, and encouraging parents to be the primary disciplers. Beyond that, each and every believer is also to pursue relationships with one another, each growing to be mature and obedient disciples of Jesus Christ.
We are encouraging our young adults (high school students) to join an adult study during Immerse night. Our goal is that more inter-generational relationships will be formed with young adults and more seasoned adults and seniors. This inter-generational discipleship is seen from passages such as Titus Ch. 2 that tells older men to be sober-minded, dignified, sound in faith, in love and steadfastness, urging younger men to have self-control. Older women are to be reverent and not slanderers, they are to teach what is good and so train young women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled, pure, and kind so that the Word of God may not be reviled.
