New Life and Partnership

  Posted on   by   No comments

With the upcoming annual business meeting many of us are wondering what partnership at New Life is all about.

Many churches have membership. We call it partnership. You are not a member of a club here at NLCC. The word “partner” conveys more clearly what we believe it means to be part of God’s family at New Life. We bear the load together to glorify Jesus Christ. That is not to say you have to become a partner in order to bear the load. In fact, most of those who call New Life their home – are not partners. We understand that our most important relationship is the one we have with Jesus Christ. Thus, if you are a follower of Jesus Christ – you are a fundamental part of what Christ is doing at New Life. You are no less of a part of New Life than even Dr. Mattson or Farmer Mattson.

So, let’s be clear, Partnership is not a means of salvation and it by no means facilitates your salvation.

However, if you want to invest in this body; you want to be held accountable in this body; you want people to be able to correct you; you want to be able to participate in a much deeper way (i.e. vote on the budget at the annual business meeting) at New Life Christian Community (being committed to do God’s work here together), we have a simple process you can go through.

If you want to become a partner, here are the steps to doing this:

1. Spend some time getting to know the leadership here and make sure you agree with us and our constitution. We ask that a person seeking partnership should be part of our fellowship for at least a consistent 3 months before you take the next step.

2. Make it known to one of the elders or pastors & take the initiative to schedule a meeting with him (I suggest you invite him over to your home or out to coffee – but don’t feel like you need to pay!).

3. Share your testimony with the elder or pastor that you are meeting with. In partnership, it is important that we can say, with confidence, that you have given your life over to Jesus Christ. If you are thinking you don’t really have a testimony, that you don’t really know Jesus, then we beg you (regardless of this process!) to get to know Him and come to us with questions you have.

4. When we know that you are our brother or sister in Christ, and have spent time growing closer to Jesus together, and you have made it known that you agree with our statement of faith (our Constitution and Statement of Faith can be found on our website), we will prayerfully and joyously sign a covenant together.

May Jesus Christ be glorified in the midst of this process.
