August 8, 2021 Baptism Service
Next week our Sunday service, from the start to the end, will be held at the Association Retreat Center (a.k.a. The ARC). It’s our annual Baptism service!
There are few services throughout the year that are more meaningful than our annual Baptism service. The meaningfulness of that service has nothing to do with how New Life does it. Its meaningfulness has everything to do with what Jesus has done in the lives of those who are being baptized. As such, its meaning is eternal and infinite.
If you’ve never been to our Baptism service, please be sure to come. Moreover, if you’ve never been baptized as a believer, would you consider this public proclamation of faith in our Savior, Jesus Christ. Be sure to share this desire with one of the pastors.
Here are a few items to consider as we prepare for this service. First, please be praying for all those who are being baptized. Pray also for the families of those who are publicly professing faith in Jesus. Many will be there who do not yet know the grace of Jesus Christ. Pray that the Lord would use this service for His glory.
Please remember that this is an outdoor service, so don’t forget the sunscreen and a lawn chair or a blanket. Also, if you own a canopy please bring it along to provide a bit more shade for those who are sensitive to the sun and heat. There are bathrooms and showers on site as well as a swimming pond and beach to enjoy after service.
We are encouraging everyone to bring their own picnic type food for you and your family. Of course, if you forget to bring food, we will be providing sandwiches , chips, water and coffee for anyone who needs refreshments.
For those who are being baptized remember to come early (9:15am) to pray and talk through the service. Don’t forget a change of clothes and a towel!
Lastly, if you forget to come to the ARC, don’t panic – we will be starting the service at 10:00 rather than 9:30. This will give everyone a chance to get there.
Here are directions to the ARC from the New Life building (the address is 2372 30th Ave, Osceola, WI): Go south on Hwy. 35 towards Osceola. Take a left on 240th (right outside of Dresser). Take 240th for about 6.5 miles. Turn left at 30th Avenue. Go a short distance and the ARC will be on your right. Turn into the first entrance and follow the road back, veering to the right until you get back to the pavilion next to the swimming pond. That’s where we’ll be!
Until then, we would recommend that you meditate upon the following passages to understand how Scripture has framed our understanding of baptism. Genesis 6:11-22; Exodus 14:15-31; Joshua 3:1-17; 2 Kings 2:8; Psalm 18:11, 69:2, 77:19; the book of Jonah; Matthew 3:1-6; 13-17, 28:19; Romans 6:4; and Colossians 2:12.
We cannot wait to worship with you at the ARC! You won’t want to miss it.
